What Hurdlr does well

Hurdlr's Premium plan tracks miles automatically with your phone's GPS and pulls in bank transactions on its own. Its free plan includes real-time tax estimates, which is a generous thing to give away. If you want a phone app that does most of the logging in the background, Hurdlr is built for that.

Where the two differ

Hurdlr puts invoicing on its Pro plan, above Premium. Self Employment Toolkit includes invoices on every plan, with no client or invoice caps, and tracks billable hours that roll straight into them.

The other difference is the finish line. Self Employment Toolkit is organized around the Schedule C form: categories map to its lines, and the year-end bundle comes out in form order as PDF and CSV.

Self Employment Toolkit is a web app that works in your phone's browser. There is no App Store app yet and no automatic drive detection: you start and end each trip yourself, and the route distance is filled in for you. Invoices are emailed as PDFs, but clients cannot pay them by card inside the app yet. It does not file your tax return.

Moving your Hurdlr records

Hurdlr exports its reports as PDF or spreadsheet files. Mileage and expense spreadsheets go in through Import on the Mileage and Expenses tabs, which map the columns and mark duplicates before anything saves.
